100th birthday party
Larry Lucie, along with his vocalist wife Lenore Lucie, better known as blues singer Nora Lee King, made a European tour with the Harlem Blues and Jazz Band in 1981. As he said, "I played with Louis Armstrong, Benny Carter, Duke Ellington, and Fletcher Henderson, but it took the Harlem Blues and Jazz Band to get me to Europe".

Larry opened the refurbished Louis Armstrong House in Corona, Queens in 2003. Along with Johnny Blowers on drums, the Harlem Blues and Jazz Band was the only group that had two ex-Armstrong sidemen at this significant event. Larry was also best man at Louis Armstrong's marriage to Lucille in 1942. In fact, both Louis and Lucille asked him to be their best man.
